Encinal Community Church

Encinal Community Church is our newest church start. Encinal is a community located about 39 miles North of Laredo on Interstate 35. Encinal at last count had about 900 residents. The church is located in the historic First Presbyterian Church building, which had been vacant for over 15 years. But through prayer and seeking God's will Primera along with our church planting couple - Tom and Mary Lou Stagg found this building and located the caretakers of the property to seek permission to start a children's ministry in the building. On August 8 - 12, 2011, Primera along with help from various churches put on a Vacation Bible School to launch a Good News Bible Club and on August 28, 2011 launched our first official church service. This new work is co-sponsored by Primera Laredo, FBC Cotulla, FBC Charlotte and Frio River Baptist Association. This new work has seen several children make professions of faith and the attendance at the Good News Club now hovers around 25 children weekly and an additional 10-15 adults on any given Sunday. While the work is a slow process, God is changing lives and impacting the community of Encinal through the hard work and dedication of Tom and Mary Lou Stagg and their family.
