We, Primera Iglesia Bautista, Laredo, TX are not a perfect church. However, we are a community of broken, sinful individuals, who freely choose to be redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. We have chosen to be unified by following Jesus Christ, and allowing his Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out.
Nosotros, Primera Iglesia Bautista, Laredo, TX no somos una iglesia perfecta. Pero, somos una comunidad de pecadores individuos quebrantados quienes libremente escogemos ser redimidos por la sangre de del Cordereo, Jesucristo. Hemos escogidos ser unidos siguiendo a Jesucristo y permitir que el Espiritu Santo nos cambie del interior hacia el exterior.

There is one God. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and one. He is perfect in His many attributes of holiness, love, power, knowledge, justice, and mercy.
Hay un solo Dios. El es el Creador y Supremo Rey del universo. El existe eternamente en tres personas: el Padre, el Hijo y el Espiritu Santo. Estos tres son iguales y uno a la misma vez. El es perfecto en su multitud de atributos de santidad, amor, poder ciencia, justicia y misericordia.

Jesus Christ is God's Son. He is co-equal with the Father. He is both God and man. He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of His people by dying on a cross. He died to become a substitutionary atonement for the sins of His people. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesús Cristo es el Hijo de Dios. El es co-igual con el Padre. El es amob Dios y hombre. El fue nacido de una virgen. El vivio una vida humana sin pecado y se ofrecio como el sacrificio perfecto por los pecados de Su pueblo muriendo en la cruz. El murio para ofrecerce como expiación sustituciónaria por los pecados de Su pueblo. El ascendio de la muerte despues de tres dias para demostrar Su poder sobre el pecado y la muerte. El asecendio a la gloria del Cielo y regresara algun dia a la tierra pare que reina como Rey de Reyes y Señor de Señores.

Holy Spirit/ El Espiritu Santo

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is the divine helper, assistant, counselor and instructor. He is present in the world to make man aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.
El Espiritu Santo es un co-igual con el Padre y el Hijo de Dios. Es el ayudante divino, asistente, consejero y instructor. El esta presente en el mundo con el proposito de demostrale al hombre su necesidad de Jesus Cristo. Tambien mora dentro de cada Cristiano desde el momento de salvacion. El le da al Cristiano el poder para la vida, entendimiento de verdades espirituales, y lo guia en hacer lo correcto. Le da a cada creyente un don espiritual cuando son salvos. Como Cristianos, buscamos como vivir bajo su control cada dia.

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. The Bible is inspired by God, and is the truth without any mixture of error. It is the sole authority for life.
La Biblia es la Palabra de Dios para nosotros. Fue escrito por seres humanos bajo la guianza sobrenatural del Espiritu Santo. Es la fuente suprema de verdad para la vida cotidiana y creencia Cristiana. La Biblia es inspirada por Dios y es la verdad sin error. Es nuestra suprema autoridad para la vida.

Human Beings/ Los seres Humanos

Human beings are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. As the supreme object of God’s creation, we were designed for dignity. However, Adam’s sin catapulted the creation into a fallen state, and plunged all his descendants into depravity. Thus, all of us are marred by rebellion and disobedience toward God, which is called “sin.” Sin separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Los seres humanos somos hechos en la semejanza espiritual de Dios para ser como el en caracter. Somos el objecto supremo de la creacion de Dios y fuimos hechos para diginidad. Pero por causa del pecado de Adan la creacion se convertio en un estado caido y ha causado que toda su descendencia esten depravados. Asi, que todos somos marcados por la rebelion y desobedencia hacia Dios, que se llama, "pecado". El pecado nos separa de Dios y nos causa muchas problemas en la vida.

Salvation/ La Salvacion

Salvation is God’s free gift to us. We receive this gift through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance means turning away from our sin and turning towards Christ. Faith means trusting in Christ alone for the remission of our sins. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, His perfect obedience is credited to us so that God sees us as the righteousness of Christ. Every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ and will spend eternity in heaven, while those who die in their sins will spend eternity in hell.
La salvacion es un Don (regalo) de Dios dado a nosotros gratuitamente. Recibimos este regalo por medio del arrepentimiento y fe solamente en Cristo Jesus. Arrepentirse significa dandole vuelta a nuestro pecado y volteando hacia Jesucristo. Fe significa confiando solamente en Jesus por la remision de nuestros pecados. Cuando ponemos nuestra fe en Jesucristo, su perfecta obediencia se nos es acreditada para que Dios pueda ver la santidad de Jesus en nosotros. Cada persona quien es verdaderamente salva es eternamente seguro en el Senor Jesus Cristo y pasara la eternidad en el cielo, mientras aquellos quienes mueren en su pecado pasaran la eternidad en el infierno.

God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ. If you have made a genuine commitment of faith in Jesus, you cannot lose your salvation. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. God’s grace and power enable us to persevere in faith until the end.
Dios nos da la vida eterna por medio de Jesus Cristo. Si haz hecho un compromiso de fe, genuino en Jesus, No puedes perder la salvacion. La salvacion se mantiene por el poder y gracia de Dios; no por el auto-esfuerzo del Cristiano. La gracia y poder de Dios nos ayuda a persevera en la fe hasta el final.

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
El hombre fue creado para exisitir para siempre. Existiremos eternamente separados de Dios por nuestro pecado o eternamente juntos con Dios por medio de la fe y salvacion. Para estar eternamente en union con El es la vida eterna. El cielo e infierno son lugares reales de existencia eterna.

Baptism/ Bautismo

Baptism is a picture and an illustration—a symbolic act. Baptism by immersion best illustrates the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ on our behalf and our subsequent faith in Him. It is not necessary for salvation, but is strongly associated with salvation as it best illustrates our new identity with Jesus Christ.
We believe in believer’s baptism. A person must first exercise faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for their sins, was buried, and rose from the dead. An infant or person who does not understand God’s plan of salvation cannot make that kind of commitment. The Scriptural order is belief first followed by baptism. Baptism is limited to those who have personally believed in Jesus Christ as Savior.
El bautismo es una ilustración y un retrato - un hecho simbólico. El bautismo por inmersión es la mejor representación de la muerte, el entierro en la tumba y la resurrección de Jesucristo en nuestro lugar y nuestra fe en el. No es necesario para la salvación pero está relacionado con la salvación porque mejor ilustra nuestra nueva identidad en Jesucristo.
Creemos en el bautismo del creyente. Una persona primero debe ejercer fe en Jesucristo creyendo que Él murió por nuestros pecados, fue sepultado y resucito de la muerte. Lord's Supper/ La Cena del Señor

The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of the church. It was instituted when the Lord had the Passover meal before His crucifixion. We observe the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis in remembrance of Jesus Christ atonement for our sins. It is a proclamation of His death and an assurance of His second coming. We ask only those who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion in Believer's Baptism to participate in the Lord’s Supper. The elements of bread and grape juice are used as symbols of Christ’s body that was broken and His blood that was shed for the remission of our sins.
La Cena del Señor es una ordenanza de la iglesia. Fue instituida cuando el Señor participó de la cena de la Pascua antes de su crucificción. Observamos la Cena del Señor regularmente como memoria de El y su expiación de nuestros pecados. Es una proclamación de su muerte y la aseguranza de su segunda venida. Pedimos que solamente aquellos quienes han hecho una profesión de fe en Jesús Cristo y han sido bautizados por inmersión en el bautismo del creyente participen en la Cena del Señor. Priesthood of the Believer/ El Sacerdocio del Creyente

Each person is able to come to God for himself or herself. There is no need for a third party to tell a person how to pray, how to interpret Scriptures, or how to vote in church. All believers are ministers of God. Therefore the church does not have a distinctive class of priests. All members are made “priests unto God” by the death of Christ. The church is a holy priesthood chosen by God to offer up spiritual sacrifices. There is only one mediator between God and man and that is Jesus Christ.
Cada person tiene la opurtunidad de venir delante de Dios por su propio ser. No hay necesidad de que haya otra persson o intermediario como orar, como interpretar las escrituras o como votar en asuntos de la iglesia. Todo creyente es un ministro de Dios. Asi que la iglesia no tiene ninguna clases distinta de sacerdotes. La iglesia es compuesto de un sacerdocio santo escogido por Dios para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales a Dios. Church Government/ Gobierno de Iglesia

We believe in the local autonomy of the church. Each church has the right to manage its affairs with no central authority except that of Christ Himself. Freedom does not rule out cooperation. We are a cooperating church with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). This means that we cooperate with other Baptist Churches in pooling and sharing money for the support of missionaries and ministries at home and around the world. This plan is called the Cooperative Program.
Creemos en la autonomia de la iglesia local. Cada iglesia tiene el derecho de manejar su propio asuntos sin ningun autoridad central con la excepcion de Cristo asi mismo. La libertad no niega al cooperar. Somos una congregacion que coopera con la Convencion Bautista del Sur (SBC). Esto significa que cooperamos con otra Iglesias Bautistas en compartir y crear un fondo para el apoyo de misioneros domesticos al igual que misioneros internacionales alrededor del mundo. Este plan(fondo) se llama el Plan Cooperativo.
